About Mary K Simmons
My passion for watercolor started during my childhood. We had many paintings of my great grandfather, Bert Langley, and my great-great uncle, Edward Marion Langley, hanging throughout our home. Their beautiful use of color in painting the landscapes of the mountains and deserts of California made a lasting impression upon me. I knew that one day, I too, wanted to become a painter with watercolor being my choice of medium.
I started painting about 20 years ago. The subject matter of my paintings are varied, but personal...always of something that I have seen or experienced. Hawaii holds a special place in our family, being that my husband is from Hawaii. I have many paintings of favorite Hawaiian scenes...flowers, shells, ocean views, and my beloved turtles. Being a wife, mother, and grandmother, vacations and family times provide numerous inspirations for painting.
I love capturing a moment and, most of all, sharing it with others through the use of watercolor. I will be a forever student of the art.
